讀後心得
Tai Yan Design was founded by Gao Shijie, who adheres to the pursuit of perfection and integrates architectural thinking to meet client needs along with elements such as environment and aesthetics, creating personalized designs. Gao Shijie has had a passion for architecture since childhood and successfully entered the Department of Interior Design at Chung Yuan Christian University. He subsequently focused on designing local styles, believing that nature is the source of inspiration. His representative work includes the Tai Yan office, and he recently takes pride in projects like Hidden Art Residence, Into the Mountain, and Bamboo Inscription. He describes himself as reserved, understated, and a pursuer of excellence, inspired by the works of Kózse and Nolan. The years 2023-2024 are an important period of reflection for him, and he will focus on sustainable design and collaboration with AI in the future.

The design studio Taiyan, founded by Gao Shijie, always adheres to the spirit of extreme refinement in treating every piece of work. Combining needs, environment, culture, aesthetics, budget, and future potential, we start from an architectural perspective to create reasonable and customized designs for clients. The team believes that meeting client needs is merely the foundation of design; only if it reflects the brand spirit or the personality and lifestyle of the homeowner, like a calm deep pool, can the design be considered a work that gives life.

<p>Residential Project 'Breath of the Wild'</p>

How did you become an interior designer? What was your experience before becoming an interior designer? I have had a deep interest in architecture and space since childhood. When filling out the college entrance examination choices, I followed my father’s advice to select several business-related programs and mixed in five design-related options, ultimately unexpectedly entering the Department of Interior Design at Chung Yuan Christian University. After graduation, I was forced to assist my father in managing the business in China, but I could never let go of my passion for design. Therefore, I took the opportunity to return to Taiwan after my grandfather's passing, escaping from my father's career, and began working in a design firm. From then on, I focused on this field.

What is your design philosophy? How has this philosophy changed throughout your design career? My design philosophy is to learn from nature. The natural world provides infinite inspiration, whether in shapes, colors, light and shadow, or even in the relationships between all things; almost all problems in nature can find solutions. The beauty of nature is irreplaceable. In design, I believe nature should embody randomness and unpredictability, combined with harmonious cyclical characteristics. Therefore, I often take on the role of an observer, guiding the clients to clarify their true needs and inner desires, then integrating and fine-tuning the direction, ultimately allowing the most suitable relationships and forms to emerge naturally.

Residential Project 'Into the Mountain'

If you had to name one representative work, what would it be? The office of Taiyan. What project are you most proud of this year? Hidden Art Residence, Into the Mountain, and Bamboo Inscription.

As an interior designer, please describe yourself in three adjectives: reserved, low-key, and pursuing perfection.

What book, movie, or music has inspired your creative ideas? Kexijie's "The Heart's Vision" and Nolan's "Interstellar." Only the mind can break the boundaries of space and time, which also reflects my emphasis on experiencing flow within space.

What significance does 2023-2024 hold for you? This year is a turning point for me; I reflect on and examine the directions of the past, present, and future, both in terms of company operations and my views on life, family, and design.

What new designs or development directions do you have for next year? I will continue to think about designs that are closer to local culture in order to achieve carbon reduction and sustainable friendly designs, and further attempt to introduce AI collaboration to improve work efficiency and the integrity of outcomes.
