How did you become an interior designer? What experiences did you have before becoming an interior designer?
Before becoming an interior design professional, I had no special experiences to share. I have been interested in aesthetics since childhood, so during my studies, I chose a major in aesthetics and design, and after graduation, I entered the field of interior design.
What are your design principles? How have they changed over your 45 years in design?
We have always adhered to "use design to solve problems, not to create new ones." We continuously explore new materials: digital, handmade, artistic, and natural sensations, and contemplate how to localize Chinese culture with the global fusion of East and West, realizing new relationships between people, space, and nature.
What does the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures mean to you? How do you present this in your work?
To me, the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures means that the designed space makes Eastern people look like Westerners and Western people look like Easterners. Mature individuals feel nostalgic, while younger people find it fashionable. The specific expression is a montage of spatial aesthetics, using a "Simple Gorgeous" design style to interpret new Eastern humanistic sentiments. Montage is a form of aesthetic integration, focusing on deep experiences of the mind, and showcasing contemporary Eastern aesthetics through the combination of rough and refined materials.
What design project are you most proud of in recent years?
Our design projects have received profound recognition from clients, such as residential spaces, reception clubs, religious and medical spaces. Designs like "Daming Dafa" and "Heart Temple on the Roof" have also received international award recognition.
Is there a secret to achieving outstanding interior design projects?
There are no secrets, only heartfelt effort. Design requires inspiration; movies and travel are essential sources of aesthetic supplement. I love to observe everything I encounter during my travels, as these experiences can spark my creative inspiration.
Looking ahead to 2025, what new design or development directions do you foresee?
I view the challenges and opportunities ahead as motivation to move forward and look forward to responding flexibly to changes while maintaining steady growth.
