This event aims to invite county residents to participate in the screening and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) to jointly eliminate the threat of tuberculosis to public health.

The Health Bureau urges those who have been in contact with tuberculosis to proactively undergo screening for early detection and treatment to maintain their health. The Health Bureau Director stated that tuberculosis is mainly transmitted through air and droplets, and if symptoms such as a persistent cough lasting more than two weeks, night sweats, or weight loss occur, one should seek medical examination as soon as possible to ensure their own health and that of their family.

It is important to note that some infected individuals may not display symptoms, yet tuberculosis bacteria may still exist in their bodies, a condition known as "latent tuberculosis infection." Although there is no infectivity during this stage, it may develop into active tuberculosis in the future, making proactive treatment of latent tuberculosis crucial.

The Taitung County Health Bureau will conduct a two-month "324 Project - Latent Tuberculosis Infection Testing and Treatment" from March 24 to May 24, prioritizing screening for those who have been in contact with tuberculosis cases. Members of the public who believe they have been in contact with TB or are willing to participate are also welcome. Individuals being screened must be at least 18 years old and present a photo ID that verifies their identity, such as an ID card, health insurance card, or driver's license. The Health Bureau reminds that there are limited spots available for this event, with 90 slots allocated to Taitung County by the central government. Interested individuals should register before May 24, but if spots are filled before this date, registrations will cease immediately.
