A 9-year-old girl recently reported to her mother that she had a foreign object in her ear. Although her hearing was normal, her mother initially thought the child was joking until they went to the doctor, where it was discovered that there was a half-centimeter foam ball in the girl’s ear. Pediatrician Wu Hanmeng stated that this is not the first time he has encountered foreign objects in ears, as he has examined various bizarre items in the past. He praised the mother for believing her child and seeking medical help promptly, thus avoiding potential danger.

The curiosity of children often leads them to make some mischievous actions, which can sometimes result in physical injuries. Recently, a 9-year-old girl told her mother that there was something in her ear, but her hearing was normal. At first, the mother thought the child was just joking, but when she took her to the clinic, the doctor found a flexible foam ball deep in her ear, which was astonishing.

Pediatricians mentioned on social media that during consultations, they often need to check children's ears, having seen everything from earwax to small insects, but this time they removed a particularly special foreign object. The mother initially did not take her daughter to see a doctor in a timely manner because the daughter’s ear did not hurt and she didn’t have any trouble hearing. However, as time passed, the girl brought it up again, and the mother noticed that her left ear canal seemed to have a bulging sensation.

After the examination, the doctor found that although the view of the girl’s left ear canal was limited, the eardrum was still visible, and the object was located quite deep. They ultimately found a foam ball about half a centimeter in size, which was also covered in earwax. Fortunately, there was no redness or inflammation in the ear canal. The doctor asked the girl when she had pushed something into her ear, but she replied that she hadn’t done that and only remembered seeing this kind of small ball last year.

The doctor expressed that it is commendable that this mother believed her child and did not scold her, as this approach is very praiseworthy. If the object had not been removed in time, it could have caused harm to the child in the future.
