Pocketpair's Community Director Bucky stated at GDC 2025 that if Nintendo's next-generation console, the Switch 2, has powerful enough hardware, they would consider porting "Palworld" to Switch 2. Currently, the team has not received a Switch 2 development kit and cannot confirm whether its performance meets the game's requirements. Bucky explained that the main reason "Palworld" has not landed on the current Switch is due to hardware limitations, but the team has successfully optimized the game for the Steam Deck. If the Switch 2's hardware meets the standards, they would be happy to allow more players to experience it. Additionally, although a patent lawsuit with Nintendo is ongoing, Pocketpair still launched the card game "Overdungeon" on the Switch platform this January.

Bucky, the community director of Pocketpair, the developer of "Palworld," recently stated in an interview at the GDC 2025 Game Developers Conference that they would consider porting the popular game, which has over 32 million players, to the Switch 2 if Nintendo's next-generation console has sufficiently powerful hardware. However, Bucky also admitted that the team has not yet received a development kit for the Switch 2, making it impossible to confirm whether its hardware will meet the requirements for "Palworld."

Bucky explained that the primary reason "Palworld" has not launched on the current Nintendo Switch is due to hardware limitations. He pointed out that the open world of "Palworld" demands high hardware specifications, which the original Switch cannot meet. However, the Pocketpair team has previously succeeded in optimizing the game for the Steam Deck, allowing "Palworld" to run smoothly on that handheld device. Therefore, if the hardware specifications of the Switch 2 meet the requirements, the team is very eager to allow more players to experience "Palworld" on a handheld console.

Of course, the ongoing patent infringement lawsuit between Nintendo and Pocketpair remains in progress, and it is unclear whether it will affect the possibility of "Palworld" making its way to the Switch 2. It is worth mentioning that after the lawsuit was made public, Pocketpair still had games launching on the Switch platform, including a card game called "Overdungeon," which was released on Switch this January after originally launching in 2018.
