When citizens used the Taipei City Police Department's online reporting system, they found that the screen displayed "Beijing Municipal Government," raising concerns about fraud or a hacker incursion. After investigation, it was revealed that the issue originated from the settings of Google Translate, rather than a hacker attack. Experts pointed out that the translation might be due to the system using different dictionaries, and they suspect human factors may have been involved. Similar issues had previously occurred in the New Taipei City Education Bureau, all related to automatic translation.

Some citizens used the online reporting system of the Taipei City Police Department, but found the page displaying "Beijing Municipal Government." At the time, they thought it was a scam or a hacker invasion, so they were reluctant to fill out the reporting information. Later, it was confirmed that the issue was caused by Google Translate, and they have contacted Google for correction. Cybersecurity experts stated that this cannot be ruled out as a result of human manipulation.

Citizens felt confused when they saw the title "Beijing Municipal Government" while using the Taipei City Police Department's online reporting system and did not want to try using it anymore. The same situation appeared on their computers, where the original title should have been the Taipei City Government’s online report, but instead showed "Beijing Municipal Government Railway Report." This led many citizens to suspect whether it was a scam website or a hacker invasion. They expressed concerns about personal data safety upon seeing such a title and felt uneasy about filling out the information.

When attempting to use the online reporting systems of other counties and cities, the reporting system of New Taipei City did not exhibit the same issue, while the systems of Taichung City and Keelung City also did not display as Beijing Municipal Government. It was later confirmed that the source of the problem was Google Translate. Since citizens used the automatic translation feature, the aforementioned issue occurred, but after manually changing the translation options, it returned to normal.

The person in charge of the duty command center of the Taipei City Police Department stated that the problem indeed lies with Google Translate software and claimed that the reporting system had not been hacked. Cybersecurity experts pointed out that there could be two sets of translation dictionaries. The dictionary used for normal display might be one, while the automatic translation might have applied another one, which could involve human factors, or even intentional actions by internal staff.

In fact, last month the New Taipei City Education Bureau's website also had a similar situation where citizens found the title changed to "Beijing Municipal Government Education Bureau." At that time, they had already requested Google for correction, but after a month of testing, it still showed as Beijing.
