The Communist Army conducted shooting exercises off the coasts of Kaohsiung and Pingtung on February 26. A lieutenant colonel serving as an advisor on one of the three naval vessels was reassigned due to slow responses in reporting monitoring photos. The Ministry of National Defense clarified that they did not carry out their duties according to guidelines and will undergo education and training before being reassigned. Major General Qiu Junrong stated that the efficiency and quality of reporting must be improved during missions, emphasizing the importance of ongoing training to respond to the maritime provocations from the Communist Army.

The Communist Army officially announced on February 26 that it designated a training area for shooting exercises about 37 nautical miles off the coast of Kaohsiung and Pingtung. According to reports, three colonel advisors from three naval task ships were demoted due to the slow speed of transmitting surveillance photos of the communist ships. The Ministry of National Defense clarified today that these three individuals did not execute their tasks according to strategic communication guidelines and are currently only being reassigned; they will be redeployed after receiving training.

Vice Chief of Naval Operations Lieutenant General Chiu Chun-Rong stated at the press conference that these three ships were assigned a mission to monitor and collect evidence in the designated sea area, but due to poor quality of footage taken by the personnel onboard and insufficient transmission speed, the three colonel advisors were reassigned. Chiu pointed out that the mission of these three ships was to monitor and collect data on the movements of the communist vessels, and they were rewarded upon completion. However, upon reviewing their work, it was found that they did not operate according to the Ministry of National Defense's guidelines, which resulted in appropriate disciplinary action and position adjustments in hopes of raising awareness.

He emphasized that after completing the necessary education and training, these three individuals will be reassigned for further experience and will continue to receive attention and guidance as relevant personnel. Additionally, Chiu mentioned that since 2022, the gray zone disturbances by the Communist Party at sea have had a significant impact on naval operations and cognitive warfare, so the execution, reconnaissance, and collection of evidence equipment must undergo regular training to ensure smooth operations.

As for the reporting mechanism standards, Chiu added that during routine missions, one hour will be the baseline, but in cases of urgent readiness tasks, the task ships must report information immediately upon reaching the designated sea area to enable the navy to make appropriate responses.
