His family stated that Li Yide devoted himself to serving his constituents during his time as a public representative, often putting his duties before his personal health, enduring pain from his illness; he was diagnosed with liver cancer only a little over a month before his death. Other Chiayi City councilors expressed their sorrow and regret upon hearing the news of Li Yide's passing.
Li Yide unfortunately passed away on the 26th due to liver cancer, having been ill for just over a month. According to family members, Li Yide fulfilled his duties as a city councilor, dedicated to serving the constituents. He was diagnosed with liver cancer just over a month ago, and last night he was sent to Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital for emergency treatment due to feeling unwell. After treatment, there was initial hope for improvement; however, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he was ultimately pronounced dead in the morning.
Chiayi City councilor Zheng Guanghong stated that he was still on a visit schedule with Li Yide during the New Year period and did not notice anything unusual at the time. Little did he know, just over a month later, he would receive the tragic news; Li Yide had always been serious in questioning during council meetings, often being one of the first or second to register to speak. Since the Chiayi City Council convened an extraordinary session starting from the 24th, Li Yide had not been seen for three consecutive days, making everyone feel that something was wrong.
According to the official website of the Chiayi City Council, Li Yide was elected as a councilor through a supplementary process in the last term and successfully re-elected in this term. Li Yide held a master's degree in non-profit organization management from Nanhua University and was currently pursuing a doctorate. He had previously served as an executive supervisor for the National Parents Association, an adjunct lecturer at Nanhua University and Chiayi University’s Continuing Education and Extension Department, and as the secretary-general of the rescue association, among other positions.
