The Taiwan Affairs Office recently established a "Taiwan Independence Informant Column," claiming that it will hold accountable those Taiwan independence advocates and internet celebrities who undermine cross-strait peace according to the law. The internet celebrity 闽南狼 denied being pro-Taiwan independence, stating that he is a staunch blue army against communism. This initiative has sparked a discussion about whether internet celebrities are promoting war. Legislator 陈玉珍 believes that 闽南狼's remarks endanger national security and should lead to his deportation, while 闽南狼 emphasized that he was born in Taiwan and called for action from the motherland. Taiwan independence advocates regard the Taiwan Affairs Office's reporting column as an honor.
After the event involving the mainland partner internet celebrity A-ya, the General Office of Taiwan Affairs of China announced today (the 26th) the launch of a "Taiwan Independence Snitch Reporting Column" on its website, stating that it will "pursue legal responsibility and lifelong accountability." The aim of this move is to hold accountable Taiwan independence activists and internet celebrities who disrupt cross-strait peace. However, the internet celebrity Minnan Wolf stated that he is not a proponent of Taiwan independence, emphasizing that he is a pro-Blue military anti-communist.
The internet celebrity Ba-Jiong provoked Minnan Wolf by saying, "Are you going to fight or not, (Winnie)?" He called on the Chinese Communist Party to come and strike, stating, "The great motherland, the great party, the great government have never feared the battlefield; we have been calling for over 70 years for you to hurry up and strike." This remark sparked discussions on whether it constitutes incitement to war. The song was uploaded last year and has been brought up again due to A-ya's incident of "promoting military unification" in Taiwan, leading netizens to question the call for the other side to strike quickly, believing it is no different from A-ya's rhetoric.
Legislator Chen Yu-chen pointed out: "The real threats to security are Ba-Jiong and Minnan Wolf; they cause social upheaval and indeed threaten national security, and should be expelled by the government." Minnan Wolf responded, "Where should I go to leave? I was born in Taiwan; I am just urging the motherland to hurry up and do this; don’t shout for over 70 years without action." After A-ya returned to her homeland, the mainland also launched countermeasures and announced plans to expand actions against Taiwan independence.
Spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office Chen Bin-hua stated: "For those who can provide evidence and have malicious nature, accomplices will be held legally accountable for life." The newly established column encourages the public to report targets, focusing on attacks against Taiwan independence activists and side-wing internet celebrities. The Chairman of Taiwan’s Nationalist Party, Chen Jun-han, mentioned that for those independence figures named by the Taiwan Affairs Office, it can be seen as a kind of medal.
Minnan Wolf reiterated: "I am not a proponent of Taiwan independence; I am a pro-Blue military." As for being targeted by the mainland, Taiwan independence advocates seem unfazed, instead viewing it as a symbol of honor.
