The 2025 "True Love Show: Sapphire Grand Theater" concert will be grandly held on May 10 and 11 at the Gao Liu Hai Music Hall, with the theme "Treasure Island Golden Melody Night," featuring many well-known singers gathering together. Zheng Jin Yi, the "genius" of the music industry, will be performing at "Sapphire" in Kaohsiung for the first time in his 40-year career. He jokingly said, "Back then, I couldn't even finish performing just at the Taipei cabaret!" He reminisced about his days performing at the Taipei cabaret shows with Zhang Fei and Hu Gua, revealing that during a heated moment, he had a confrontation with Zhang Fei backstage, who retorted, "What does a kid know?"
Zheng Jin Yi talked about how he entered the showbiz, particularly thanking his "mentor" Wang Meng Lin and "benefactor" Zhang Fei. He first stepped into the entertainment industry by winning a singing contest, and then he was discovered by Wang Meng Lin, leading to his performance at the famous "Disc Corner Nightclub." Zheng Jin Yi's humor and talent caught Zhang Fei's attention, and he even left a lasting impression with the line, "My talent doesn't match three-fifths of yours," ultimately being taken on as an apprentice.
Zheng Jin Yi is straightforward and articulate; he also revealed that he had a verbal dispute with Zhang Fei over the saying "People compete for a breath, Buddha competes for an incense stick." The incident originated from Zhang Fei mentioning "Buddha relies on one incense stick," which was countered by Zheng Jin Yi emphasizing it as "Buddha competes for an incense stick," making Zhang Fei feel embarrassed and even suggesting calling his father to verify. To prove he was right, Zheng Jin Yi asked a friend to contact a professor from National Taiwan University for clarification; the two argued intensely, leaving the onlookers puzzled.
This time, Zheng Jin Yi will return to perform at Sapphire alongside his apprentice Peng Qia Qia, known for their well-documented teacher-student relationship, which is very harmonious. At the ticket press conference, Peng Qia Qia jokingly stated, "I've hated Zheng Jin Yi for a long time!" referring to the frequent sarcasm and criticism he faced from Zheng Jin Yi when he debuted. In response, Zheng Jin Yi remarked, "Cursing is actually teaching him; we are used to teasing each other, which is quite fun!"
