Internet celebrity Zhong Mingxuan has recently been involved in a controversy over "pro-China, pro-communist" remarks. In a certain program, he mentioned that he did not accept red envelopes and was not influenced by unification, further stating, "Many people do not understand Taiwan, no one knows Taiwan." Therefore, during introductions, he would say, "We are Chinese culture." This statement triggered intense discussions among various netizens.

Internet celebrities A-Di and DK also publicly shared their views on this incident. Leila's husband, Tang Yu, posted two articles in quick succession, seemingly responding to Zhong Mingxuan's remarks. He expressed on Threads: "Introducing oneself as Taiwanese abroad can be unfamiliar, this person really hasn't traveled abroad... How can one’s identity be so difficult to acknowledge?" He also included a selfie wearing a shirt that says "TEAM TAIWAN," pointing out, "Taiwanese people of TEAM TAIWAN are indeed Taiwanese, who would regard you as Chinese? This land has nurtured you your whole life, yet you have no sense of self-identity at all?"

The incident stemmed from Zhong Mingxuan's mention in a special interview with Ba Ling Guo, where he said that he had studied abroad in the United States. When introducing himself as someone from Taiwan, he found that no one knew, "Only after going abroad did I realize more people do not understand Taiwan, no one knows Taiwan." Even mentioning Taipei 101 or TSMC did not grab attention, until he brought up "Chinese," "Chinese culture," and "Chinese cuisine," at which point he finally established a connection with foreigners.
