South Korea's low-cost airline has a thrilling incident! The pilot misheard the runway instructions, landing incorrectly and narrowly avoided a disaster.
Recently, a thrilling incident occurred with South Korea's low-cost airline "Jin Air." A flight from Sapporo, Japan, to Busan nearly collided with another aircraft due to the pilot mishearing the runway. When the flight was supposed to land on runway 18R, it was mistakenly heard as 18L. Fortunately, the tower personnel noticed in time and informed Jin Air to postpone the landing, preventing an accident. This is the second safety issue faced by "Jin Air" since the tail wing malfunction incident earlier this year. The company stated that it would strengthen inspections to ensure passenger safety.
South Korean low-cost airline "Jin Air" recently had to urgently cancel flights due to a malfunction in the horizontal stabilizer of their aircraft and has recently experienced another incident where the pilot misheard the runway name, nearly colliding with another plane.
According to reports, multiple airlines in South Korea have encountered accidents since 2024, particularly the popular "Jin Air." On the afternoon of the 25th, the LJ312 flight from Sapporo, Japan, to Busan misheard the runway as 18L instead of the intended 18R during landing at Gimhae Airport, nearly colliding with a Busan Air flight that was supposed to land on 18L.
Fortunately, the tower personnel promptly detected the anomaly and notified the Busan Air flight to delay its landing, successfully avoiding a potential accident.
Reports indicate that when the flight was prepared to land at 5:35 PM that afternoon, due to the pilot mishearing the runway name, the staff at Gimhae Airport tower acted quickly to prevent the incident. Relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
It is worth mentioning that "Jin Air" had also urgently canceled a flight earlier this January due to a malfunction in the tail of a Boeing 737-800 during routine pre-flight checks, affecting 87 passengers' itineraries. The airline apologized for the cancellation and provided meal vouchers as compensation. At the same time, the airline stated it would enhance flight inspections to ensure future safety.
