Minister without Portfolio 楊珍妮 stated that they will communicate comprehensively with the U.S. to seek a reduction in tariffs or a narrowing of the taxation scope to protect the interests of domestic businesses. Executive Yuan Premier 卓榮泰 emphasized that maintaining the health of the people is the primary consideration and expressed strong reactions to the U.S. high tariff policy.

There are many questions in the international community about what negotiating leverage we have, and whether the Vice President will participate in communications with the US has also become a focus. The Executive Yuan Chief responded that the "Taiwan-US Economic and Trade Group" is led by the Deputy Minister of the Executive Yuan, and she will fully grasp the various situations of the nation.

• Regarding future negotiations with the US, the goal is to lower the equivalent tariff rate or reduce the scope of taxation to advocate for maximum benefits for our businesses, maintaining a fair position in international competition.
• Strategically, we will strengthen comprehensive communication with US officials, Congress, and business associations, emphasizing the complementarity of the industrial trade structure between the two sides, and discussing the trade deficit issues that concern the US.

As for the possibility of reducing import tariffs, lowering the import tax on the automotive industry, or eliminating trade barriers for US pork and beef, the Executive Yuan Chief stated that Taiwan is willing to align with the world under reasonable and common standards, but safeguarding the health of our citizens will be a priority consideration.

Furthermore, will the high tariff policy of the US towards Taiwan exacerbate skepticism towards the US? The Executive Yuan Chief pointed out that the new US tariff policy generally targets most countries worldwide; although it contains unfair elements, it also has a universality; our government will express a strong reaction to this matter and strive for effective adjustments.
