China announces a 34% tariff on all US imports to launch a counterattack.
讀後心得
The State Council of China announced that starting April 10, a 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the United States, in response to the reciprocal tariff measures by U.S. President Donald Trump. In addition, 16 American companies have been listed in the export control list, while 11 companies have been designated as unreliable entities, prohibiting them from related investments and import-export activities in China. The Ministry of Commerce of China stated that this measure aims to safeguard national security and interests, and has filed a lawsuit against the United States in the World Trade Organization to demand that the U.S. retract its unilateral tariffs.

In response to the reciprocal tariff measures by the President of the United States, the State Council of China announced that starting April 10, an additional 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods from the United States. This tariff rate is exactly the same as the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States on China.

At the same time, the Ministry of Commerce of China has included 16 American entities on the export control list and added 11 American companies to the unreliable entities list, in order to restrict their operational activities in China.

The State Council of China pointed out in the announcement that the U.S. government announced reciprocal tariffs on Chinese export goods on April 2, 2025, which violates international trade rules, seriously harms China's legitimate rights and interests, and constitutes unilateral bullying behavior.

According to the "Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China," starting from 12:01 PM on April 10, 2025, the following measures will be implemented for imported goods from the United States:

  • All imported goods originating from the United States will be subject to an additional 34% tariff based on the applicable duties.
  • The bonded and tax reduction policies will remain unchanged, and the additional tariffs imposed this time will not be exempted.
  • If the goods were initiated from the place of departure before 12:01 PM on April 10, 2025, and are imported between 12:01 PM on April 10, 2025, and midnight on May 13, 2025, the tariffs described in the announcement will not be imposed.

In addition, the General Administration of Customs of China also announced the suspension of the qualifications of 6 American companies for importing products into China. The Ministry of Commerce of China stated that the behaviors of the above companies may jeopardize China's national security and interests, and emphasized that it has filed a lawsuit against the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States at the World Trade Organization, calling on the U.S. side to immediately correct the erroneous behavior and lift the unilateral tariff measures.
