According to official data, the 1st compartment has only 63 seats, making it the one with the least number of seats; the 12th compartment has 68 seats; while the odd-numbered compartments 9 and 11 each have 85 seats, and the even-numbered compartments 8 and 10 offer 96 seats, which is noticeably more. The high-speed rail company explained that odd-numbered compartments (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11) have toilets, and the 1st and 12th compartments also have driving cabins, resulting in fewer seats.

To reduce waiting times for free seating, the high-speed rail company recommends that travelers check the "Station Crowd Information" signal through the high-speed rail corporate website or the "T-EX Mobile Ticketing" app before departure to avoid peak times and long waits. Additionally, Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corporation emphasizes that to meet the demand for passenger volume during the holidays, they will increase free seating compartments as needed, with some services even expanding to 8 compartments, including the 1st to 3rd and 8th to 12th, enhancing convenience for free seating passengers.
