The man was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months for embezzlement and is required to forfeit his illegal gains. The Genesis Foundation has strengthened its receipt management and preventative measures and is urging the public to donate receipts using the Love Code.

According to reports from Keelung, checking invoices every two months is a small daily luck for many people. However, a man with the surname Chen took advantage of his position as a volunteer at the Keelung Genesis Foundation to secretly steal more than 4,000 winning invoices from the foundation between 2018 and 2020, obtaining an amount as high as 1.01 million NTD. It was not until the National Taxation Bureau discovered his unusual winning records that they notified the Genesis Foundation, revealing this incident.

The slogan of the Genesis Foundation is "Donate invoices easily, save the vegetative state patients," but this male volunteer from the Keelung branch embezzled all 4,000 winning invoices collected, ultimately being caught by the National Taxation Bureau and sentenced according to the law. Relevant personnel from the foundation stated that they had noticed some irregularities at that time, and the National Taxation Bureau also discovered his violations, expressing great regret. Subsequently, the Genesis Foundation has established stricter preventive measures regarding the invoice sorting process, prize redemption mechanism, and storage methods.

This man, Chen, thought he could act without anyone noticing, but in reality, he was responsible for verifying invoices at the Genesis Foundation's Keelung branch. Due to the convenience of his position, he illegally possessed the winning invoices and redeemed them at convenience stores, post offices, gas stations, and other institutions. As the National Taxation Bureau noticed his high frequency of winnings, they eventually uncovered his illegal actions. During this period, he illegally stole a total of 4,045 winning invoices, totaling 1.01 million NTD.

To improve this situation, the Genesis Foundation stated that they would strengthen the management of the invoice processing procedures. Currently, the collected invoices mainly rely on manual verification. The foundation calls on everyone to use 919 (Genesis Love Code) for donations to enhance processing efficiency.

Chen, due to his greed for personal gain, abused the kindness of the public, which is truly unacceptable. He has now been sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for embezzlement and is required to forfeit his illegal gains, truly reaping what he has sown.
