Recently, after the gas explosion at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, a visit to Taichung revealed that several familiar real estate developers expressed optimism about the market, especially in areas like Shui Nan, Beitun Section 14, and the MRT special zone. They commonly used the phrase "post-explosion consumption power in the seven districts has shifted, and buying interest follows," attempting to attract attention. However, the area around the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi to Dayuan department store, which originally had long queues during holidays, appeared desolate due to the temporary closure of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi in the seven districts, with the number of security personnel at luxury apartment entrances even exceeding that of pedestrians. Reports suggest that the affluent class in Taichung seems to be gradually moving away from the seven districts, which sounds somewhat reasonable.

Nevertheless, developers are still striving to push prices up, with the rooftop units of "Lianju Yuheng Building" currently reaching a record of 1.438 million, while pre-sale houses typically range from 800,000 to over 900,000. Considering the surrounding commercial office buildings and upcoming development projects, one might understand what the businesses mean by "appreciation potential." However, the appeal of luxury homes is not solely to capitalists; many "underground economy" investors are also keen on investing in these areas to showcase their success. There has also been a complaint from a friend that the large unit their family worked hard to save for in the seven districts ended up next to a mysterious "big brother," whose lifestyle undoubtedly brings them trouble.

From recent media reports, incidents in the luxury housing area of the seven districts continue to attract attention. Up until recently, news stories about luxury properties have emerged one after another, leading one to ponder the true nature of these luxury homes. Some even suggested that "green buildings may invite trouble," raising new doubts about architectural design. During this trip to Taichung, a friend from the real estate industry asked if I could write an article about the trend of younger buyers in the seven districts, seemingly hoping to attract more investors with this wave of market recovery. However, I jokingly replied that it would seem more like a "scam for the nouveau riche." Friends in Taichung lamented that the locals are well aware of these secretive transactions and stories, yet the skyline of the seven districts still makes them feel proud.
