She questioned why major electronic products are produced in Taiwan and expressed hope for future manufacturing in the U.S. Trump, when announcing the new tariff policy, stated that 2025 will be the day of rebirth for U.S. industry. According to reports, 92% of advanced chips are produced in Taiwan.

The U.S. Secretary of Commerce stated that chip manufacturing will be brought back from Taiwan to the United States. The U.S. President recently announced a new round of tariff policies, imposing a 32% tariff on Taiwan. Although this round of tariffs does not cover the semiconductor industry, the Secretary of Commerce indicated that the President will prioritize this issue and plans to shift chip production to the United States. He mentioned that the U.S. needs to strengthen its self-defense capabilities and questioned the current situation where most electronic products are manufactured in Taiwan, believing it is a result of past policies. He pointed out that many products were previously produced in the U.S. and asked, "Why must these phones be made in Taiwan and China? Can't we switch ways to produce them in the U.S.?"

This tariff policy will affect 185 countries, with an initial tax rate of 10%. Among them, the reciprocal tariff imposed on Taiwan is 32%. The statement noted that April 2, 2025, will be regarded as an important day for the rebirth of U.S. industries, symbolizing a change in America’s destiny and the return of prosperity.
