In response to the upcoming 32% tariff that Taiwan will face, the Executive Yuan has announced an assistance plan of 88 billion TWD aimed at reducing the impact. Executive Yuan Premier Su Tseng-chang emphasized during a press conference that the plan includes nine major focuses and 20 measures, concentrating on support for industries and agriculture. He pointed out that the industrial sector will receive 70 billion TWD, focusing on providing financial support and enhancing competitiveness, while agriculture will receive 18 billion TWD in support, with particular attention to export industries such as orchids and tea. The Executive Yuan will continue to negotiate with the U.S. side and establish a consultation hotline to address the challenges posed by the new tariffs.

The financial center reports that Taiwan is about to face tariffs as high as 32%, a shocking news that has drawn widespread attention nationwide. With the tariffs set to be implemented on April 9, the Executive Yuan held a two-day emergency meeting and announced an assistance plan of 88 billion today in the afternoon to mitigate the impact of this policy on Taiwan. Premier Su Tseng-chang stated at a press conference that the government will actively respond to this challenge by proposing six industrial measures and three agricultural measures to comprehensively reduce the impact.

Su Tseng-chang reiterated, "We sincerely apologize for the delay in holding the press conference by one day." During this meeting, the Premier, along with other heads of ministries, announced the response measures to the 32% tariff, which includes a total budget of 88 billion for assistance.

Su Tseng-chang pointed out that the response strategy has been elevated to full readiness, with effective risk management and expanded support for industries. A total of nine areas and twenty specific measures have been designed. Among them, the industrial measures account for 70 billion, covering affected industries such as electronics and steel, including financial support and measures to enhance industrial competitiveness. For agriculture, 18 billion will be fully supported, as the issue of reduced exports due to high tariffs is raising concerns.

The Executive Yuan also stated that it will bear the market competitive pressure for related agricultural products such as orchids, edamame, tea leaves, and fish catches. Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun emphasized that the trade structures between Taiwan and the United States have a high degree of complementarity, and in response to this sudden tariff policy, the Executive Yuan will continue negotiations with the U.S. side to express an unreasonable stance.

In the face of the challenges posed by the new tariffs, the Executive Yuan also plans to activate a consulting hotline on April 8 to strive to minimize the impact and support Taiwan's export-oriented economy.
