According to ESPN, Rodriguez and Marc Lore reached an agreement with the current owner in 2021 to transfer ownership for about $1.5 billion (approximately 49.7 billion TWD), opting for a three-phase payment method to gradually acquire the team. However, the current owner announced in March 2024 the cancellation of the deal, alleging that Rodriguez and Marc Lore violated contractual terms, ultimately leading both parties to enter court arbitration. The arbitration results were favorable for "A-Rod," granting them an additional 90 days to complete the purchase, after which he chose not to contest further.

The NBA has now initiated the ownership transfer process, including a vote from the league's board of governors. According to regulations, at least 23 representatives from the 30 teams must vote in favor for the transaction to officially take effect.

NBC Sports points out that the new owner "A-Rod" faces two major tasks: first, he must work to retain General Manager Tim Connelly and discuss extending his contract; secondly, he needs to actively repair the relationship with legendary star Kevin Garnett, as there has been discord between him and the former owner, leading to long-term hostility between the two parties.
