Tanga Market, located in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, is a food paradise that shouldn't be missed. It takes only a 5-minute ferry ride from Mojiko in Kitakyushu to get there. The market is famous for its fresh fugu sashimi and sushi, and visitors can even enjoy a whole box of sea urchins at their leisure. Tanga Market is particularly lively on weekends and holidays, offering a variety of fresh seafood options, making it ideal for a whole day's itinerary to explore and enjoy the beautiful sea views. If you want to take the ferry, you can buy tickets from Mojiko and board a fast, spacious ferry to conveniently reach Tanga Market.

In Moji Port, Kitakyushu City, a short 5-minute boat trip will take you to Takashu Market, where you can enjoy delicious fugu sashimi and fresh nigiri sushi. I have a friend who even boldly sampled a whole box of sea urchin with chopsticks! Additionally, you can take the opportunity to explore various tourist attractions in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, with enough nearby itinerary options to fill an entire day.

From Shimonoseki Station, take the Yamaguchi Electric Railway bus, get off at Takado Station, and walk about 3 minutes to reach Takado Market.

The boarding area in Moji Port is located on the west coast of Moji Ward in Kitakyushu City, where you can purchase tickets for boats to Shimonoseki and Kanmon Island.

On that day, there were only flights running to Shimonoseki (Takado), and tickets can be purchased either from a ticket machine or a manual ticket counter. The fare is 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children.

The boatyard showcases many historical photos of Moji Port. It is recommended to arrive 10 minutes before departure to wait; the cabin is divided into upper and lower levels, and if you enjoy the breeze, you can go to the upper level.

The trip from Shimonoseki to Takado is very quick, taking only 5 minutes, and the boats are designed to be spacious and comfortable.

Takado Market is located near the port, and the weather on that day was excellent, with stunning sea views that make you eager to taste the seafood delicacies.

Fugu dishes are the signature here, and there are several cute photo spots featuring fugu around the market, so remember to take plenty of pictures! Although Takado Market is relatively quiet on weekdays, it can get very busy from Friday to Sunday and on holidays, especially due to the allure of the sushi street.

The fugu, sea bream, and yellowtail here are must-try delicacies, with the market filled with various seafood freshly caught by local fishermen.

If you visit on a weekday, you may not encounter the massive crowds. The sushi street on Friday is smaller in scale, but if you happen to visit on Friday, Saturday, or holidays, there is a very famous conveyor belt sushi restaurant on the second floor called "Kaiten Karato," which is highly recommended.

The address for Takado Market is 5-50 Takadocho, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, with the phone number 083-231-0001. The operating hours are from 5:00 to 15:00, Monday to Saturday, and from 8:00 to 15:00 on Sundays and national holidays. Some shops' hours may vary.
