During the Qingming Holiday, Leofoo Village offered free admission for visitors under the age of 18. However, this led to chaos due to insufficient shuttle buses within the park. The park is located in a remote area, about 8 kilometers from the nearest bus station, which takes approximately 13 minutes by car. As crowds surged, some unaccompanied minors were unable to catch the last shuttle bus after the park closed, resulting in long waits. To alleviate the situation, Leofoo Village increased the number of shuttle buses and set up a queueing system, reminding visitors to plan their return in advance upon entry. Many visitors expressed concerns and chose to leave early. The operators stated that they will continue to increase bus frequencies to handle future crowds.
During the Qingming Festival holiday period, Leofoo Village offered free admission for visitors under the age of 18, but this resulted in chaos due to insufficient shuttle buses in the park. Leofoo Village is located in a remote area, with the nearest bus station being 8 kilometers away, requiring a 13-minute drive. To cope with the influx of visitors, the park and bus operators added more shuttle trips and set up cones at the entrance to organize the queue, while also inquiring about the visitors' plans for leaving the park.
On the observation day of the 4th, many visitors left the park early due to concerns about not being able to catch a ride. The Qingming holiday lasts for four days, and the ticket giveaway attracted over 13,000 visitors. On the 3rd, over a hundred underage visitors stayed too long because they were having too much fun, and discovered at the shuttle bus station that only two final buses remained, and they were unable to board.
One visitor said, "Ah ah ah!!!! The power of students, there are so many people, but only one bus." After waiting for several hours, they finally boarded an emergency shuttle that the park had dispatched. Many visitors entering the park on the 4th felt anxious as both the park and visitors prepared to leave early. The park broadcasted reminders: "Leofoo Village will operate until 5 PM today, and will stop queuing according to the number of people in line." On the afternoon of the 3rd, the entrance to the park was packed with people, and on the 4th, coned pathways were implemented to require visitors to line up for buses.
One guest mentioned that they felt scared after seeing the chaos shared on social media the day before and were concerned about not being able to get home, so they chose to have family come pick them up. "I waited for almost half an hour, super worried (about not having a bus home), so I came two hours early." The public relations representative of Leofoo Village stated that they had asked visitors about their plans for leaving the park upon entry and reminded them to plan ahead.
In reality, Leofoo Village's remote location means it is about 8 kilometers from the nearest Guoguang Bus Longtan Station, requiring a 13-minute drive. Most visitors chose to drive, take buses, or direct shuttles, as the walking distance is relatively far for underage visitors. However, some people believe that since the operators provided a free event, the transportation arrangements for the return trip should be planned in advance by the visitors themselves.
Another visitor stated, "Of course!!! They should have checked (the bus schedules) themselves, it should have been expected that there would be this many people." To avoid similar situations in the future, Leofoo Village has added four new bus routes, and other bus operators have also increased services to Taipei, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu, as well as dedicated shuttles to high-speed rail and train stations. This time the park did not foresee that underage visitors would face difficulties getting home, leading to such chaos.
