The Songkran Festival in Thailand is the country's most representative traditional celebration, as important as the Chinese New Year. Because I enjoy thrilling activities, I included this festival in my world tour plan. Although I have visited Thailand multiple times, this is my first time participating in the Songkran Festival. The atmosphere on-site was lively, and it was so much fun to splash water with everyone. Even in the hot weather, I didn't feel tired at all. If I have the opportunity in the future, I highly recommend everyone to experience it in person. To fully enjoy the Songkran Festival, I plan to travel independently for 28 days from April to May 2024, visiting Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui, with a budget of about 20,000 Taiwanese dollars, and I will use various money-saving tips to create wonderful memories. The Songkran Festival is usually held from April 13 to 15 each year, and in 2025, it will be extended to April 12 to 16, with the main activity locations including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. When participating in the Songkran Festival, it is recommended to bring water guns, goggles, and lightweight clothing, while avoiding overly revealing outfits. The water-splashing activities also have their own characteristics depending on the region, and famous battlefields like Khao San Road, Silom Road, and Siam Square in Bangkok are recommended for adventurous travelers.

The Songkran Festival in Thailand is the most popular traditional celebration in the country, and its importance locally is similar to how the Chinese celebrate the Lunar New Year. Previously, I had seen photos and videos of the Songkran Festival and found it very interesting, so I included it as one of the must-attend events on my phased journey around the world. Although I have been to Thailand many times (more than 30), this was my first time participating in the Songkran Festival activities, and I found it to be incredibly thrilling and fun after experiencing it. Despite the hot weather and being soaked, the scene was filled with crowds, and everyone was enjoying the fun of water gun battles. I also joined in without hesitation, awakening my inner child, shooting water at each other, and with music adding to the lively atmosphere, the entire event was extremely joyful. For those who have yet to attend the Songkran Festival, I strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to experience this special event in the future.

In order to fully enjoy the Songkran Festival and create beautiful memories in life, I plan to travel freely from April to May 2024 (including the Songkran Festival period), visiting Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui for a total of 28 days, with a budget of over 20,000 New Taiwan Dollars (including food, transportation, entertainment, etc.). This trip is a step toward my dream of traveling around the world, and I hope my wish comes true! During this period, I purchased round-trip tickets from Bangkok (departing for the Songkran Festival) and round-trip tickets from Tokyo, Japan (departing for cherry blossom season), totaling 4 segments of tickets (Starlux Airlines), with a total cost of around 17,000 New Taiwan Dollars, including taxes. Compared to the round-trip ticket price from Taipei to Bangkok of about 6,000 New Taiwan Dollars, this price is 40%-50% cheaper than traditional airline tickets. Additionally, during these 28 days of free travel, I have set my sights on several attractions in Thailand and have made good use of various money-saving tips.

• The Songkran Festival (Water Splashing Festival) is usually held from April 13 to 15 each year. The Songkran Festival in 2025 is expected to be extended from April 12 (Saturday) to April 16 (Wednesday), lasting a total of 5 days.
• Main celebration cities include: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya, Pattaya, and Phuket.

2. Suggested Items to Bring and Dress During the Songkran Festival

• It is recommended to bring a large water gun, goggles or glasses, sandals, waterproof phone pouch, sunscreen, lightweight raincoat, and dry clothes.
• Taboos: Avoid wearing overly revealing clothing, do not use high-pressure water guns, and do not splash water on older adults, monks, sick individuals, and young children.
• Traffic may be congested during the event, so it is recommended to take the BTS or MRT and wear quick-drying clothing.

3. Introduction to Songkran Festival Activities and Transportation in Bangkok

• In Bangkok, you can choose locations for Songkran activities such as Khao San Road, Silom Road, and Siam Square. Khao San Road is the liveliest area and is suitable for participants who enjoy excitement.
• At Khao San Road, besides the water splashing activities, there are many bars and vendors attacking with water guns, allowing you to enjoy a festive atmosphere together with everyone.
• The Silom area is ideal for those who want to enjoy thrilling and fun water battles, as the street will be closed, forming a large water gun battlefield.
