Participants believe that actions should not be rushed and recommend that the government respond cautiously and introduce industry reassurance measures. A second seminar will be held tomorrow to gather opinions from traditional industries and small and medium-sized enterprises to ensure the continued stable development of Taiwan's economy.

President Lai Ching-te today (5th) gathered several representatives from the ICT industry at the Presidential Residence for a business forum, with companies including TSMC participating. Attendees believe that Taiwan should plan carefully before taking action and should not rush to respond to the current situation. In the face of the U.S. implementing a tariff policy, the Executive Yuan has proposed an 88 billion relief plan. The spokesperson for the Presidential Office confirmed that President Lai held discussions with business leaders today regarding global economic and trade challenges.

The spokesperson indicated that tomorrow, representatives from traditional industries and small and medium-sized enterprises will be invited to hold the second business forum to gather feedback and needs from the industry regarding government measures, aiming to provide maximum support for the industry, stabilize the economy, ensure Taiwan's competitiveness globally, and safeguard national interests.

According to reports, Lai Ching-te and the President of the Executive Yuan convened major domestic ICT companies such as TSMC, Hon Hai, Compal, and Pegatron this afternoon to discuss the U.S. tariff issues they are facing. The representatives at the meeting included group representatives from Hon Hai, Compal, Wistron, and other key individuals.

Moreover, attendees pointed out that although various countries have different response plans, the U.S. has not made a final decision and further observation is needed. Therefore, they suggested that the government remain patient in negotiations, avoiding urgency in reversing decisions, and prioritize the rollout of an industry assurance plan before taking further actions after stabilization.
