In response to the United States imposing a 32% tariff on Taiwan, President Lai Ching-te convened a seminar for information and communication enterprises on the afternoon of the 5th. A second seminar will be held on the 6th, inviting representatives from traditional industries and small and medium-sized enterprises, with the hope of understanding industry needs and providing support. The purpose of the discussions at the official residence is to formulate a medium to long-term response strategy, stabilize the economic situation, and ensure the competitiveness of Taiwan's industries. It is reported that the attendees support the government in maintaining flexibility during negotiations and proposing an industrial stabilization plan in advance.

In response to U.S. President Trump's imposition of a 32% tariff on Taiwan, President Lai Ching-te held a forum for information and communication technology companies at his official residence on the afternoon of the 5th, and plans to convene representatives from traditional industries and small and micro businesses for a second forum on the 6th. Through these two meetings, it is hoped that the industry can express its views and needs face-to-face, so that the government can provide the maximum support to stabilize the economic situation.

Participants generally support the government's strategy in negotiations, advising against hastily revealing their cards, and suggesting that an industry assurance plan be proposed first to prepare for future actions. The purpose of this meeting is to establish a medium- to long-term response strategy layout.

The Presidential Office spokesperson stated that the purpose of this forum is to listen to the opinions of the industry and to explain the government’s response measures, with the hope of providing the greatest support to the industry and ensuring Taiwan's competitiveness in the global market.

On the 4th, Executive Yuan Premier Su Tseng-chang also held a press conference to explain the relevant economic and trade challenges and the assistance plan of NT$ 88 billion, aiming to prioritize stabilizing industrial confidence while deploying response strategies from multiple angles.

During the meeting, President Lai Ching-te will communicate in detail with industry representatives about various needs and discuss how to stabilize market confidence and formulate effective response measures. All parties present unanimously agree that the foundation should be based on Taiwan while strategically laying out the global market, responding to different measures from various countries, and adjusting strategies as needed.
