A South Korean student from Fu Jen Catholic University expressed on social media that he encountered a random stabbing incident in Ximen District, resulting in severe stab wounds to his side and continuous bleeding. Although he is now out of danger and the police have arrested the suspect, this horrifying experience has left him troubled. He stated that he always considered Taiwan to be a country with good public security, but this incident has caused him to start rethinking that question.
The student revealed that today, to celebrate a friend's birthday, he went to a restaurant in Ximen District with friends. After enjoying beef noodles, while preparing to take a bus back to his dormitory and passing by the McDonald's in Ximen, he was suddenly stabbed by a stranger with a knife. At that moment, he had no warning as the assailant attacked him from behind without any conflict. The student described that he asked the assailant what he was doing, only to find the attacker fleeing in panic, and he quickly called the police and received treatment.
Currently, evidence shows that the suspect has been arrested by the police. He stated that although his injuries were quite severe, he began to reflect on the situation and became more concerned about the safety of other Koreans and Taiwanese citizens. Feeling disappointed with the security in Taiwan, he expressed gratitude for the police's enthusiastic assistance and hopes that everyone pays attention to their own safety.
According to the police's preliminary investigation, the incident occurred around 6 a.m., when the suspect, under the influence of alcohol, misinterpreted the student's gaze as a provocation and initiated the attack. The police later intercepted the suspect's vehicle at another location and seized the weapon used in the crime. Preliminary testing indicated that the suspect had a blood alcohol level of 0.95 at the time of the incident and has been dealt with in accordance with the law.
Fu Jen Catholic University stated that the school has not received any reports at this time but will fully assist the victim with medical and legal needs and hopes for his speedy recovery.
