In response to U.S. President Trump's imposition of a 32% tariff on Taiwan, President Lai Ching-te held a forum for information and communication technology companies at the official residence on the afternoon of the 5th, with a second forum scheduled for the 6th to invite representatives from traditional industries and small and medium-sized enterprises. The purpose of this initiative is to gather opinions and needs from the industry and to provide government support to stabilize the economy. Participants supported the government's approach of remaining cautious during negotiations, proposing industry assurance plans, and planning medium to long-term response strategies. Executive Yuan President Su Tseng-chang also convened a meeting regarding the impact of this tariff and announced a new assistance plan of 88 billion New Taiwan dollars, aimed at strengthening industry confidence.

The primary purpose of this meeting is to listen to the needs of the industry and to communicate the government's response measures, ensuring the competitiveness of Taiwan's industry on a global scale and protecting national interests. At the same time, the Premier also held a press conference, emphasizing the assessment of the U.S. side's reciprocal tariff policy and proposing a subsidy plan of NT$88 billion to stabilize industry confidence.
