The religious procession of the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple in Taichung has officially kicked off, attracting over 600,000 devotees. Kuomintang Legislative Yuan caucus leader Fu Kun-chi and his wife Hsu Chen-wei stood in the center to greet attendees. Fu expressed his hope for the goddess's blessings to help Taiwan overcome the challenges of the tariff war. The Democratic Progressive Party criticized Fu Kun-chi for leveraging the occasion for political maneuvering and reminded him to avoid repeating last year's situation where he was decisively ignored by the Baisha Temple. During the event, Fu Kun-chi called for peace across the Taiwan Strait and expressed his desire to expand Taiwan's economic and trade alliances.
In Taichung's Dajia Jinlan Temple, the 9-day, 8-night pilgrimage event officially commenced, attracting over 600,000 devotees to witness the initiation ceremony. Kuomintang Legislative Yuan Caucus leader Fu Kun-chi made an appearance, standing in the main position alongside his wife and Hualien County Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei to welcome Dajia Mazu. Fu Kun-chi stated that at this time, the tariff war must rely on the blessings of the Mother. In response, the green camp criticized Fu Kun-chi, describing him not as an ordinary believer and suggesting he has ulterior motives.
As the sounds of fireworks and firecrackers intertwined, the palanquin of Dajia Mazu set off at midnight, beginning a 9-day pilgrimage. Observing those in the main position, besides the chairman of Jinlan Temple, Yan Qing-biao, Fu Kun-chi and Hsu Chen-wei were also present. In a media interview before departure, Fu Kun-chi emphasized the hope that cross-strait relations can maintain peace, noting that the U.S. has raised tariffs on Taiwan to 32%, posing challenges for Taiwan's industries, and criticized the Lai government for pushing the people towards conflict. Fu Kun-chi stated: “What Taiwan needs most right now is unity, and I ask the Mother to bless Taiwan to quickly establish economic and trade alliances with the world, especially with countries outside the United States.”
To avoid the embarrassment of being ignored by Baisha Mazu last year, Fu Kun-chi and his wife this time respectfully escorted Dajia Mazu in the main position. DPP legislator Shen Bo-yang accused Fu Kun-chi of perhaps attempting to bring the main deity home after praying, and expressed that there should be bipartisan coordination on tariff issues, while Fu Kun-chi uses external situations as tools for internal political maneuvering aimed at distracting attention. The DPP countered, questioning his urgency to pray during a time of heightened recall sentiment, suggesting ulterior motives. City councilor Zhou Yong-hong also expressed dissatisfaction with Fu Kun-chi's actions, believing he is merely pretending to be devout, with hidden intentions behind it.
