All seven individuals present at the scene were taken back by the police for investigation.

According to the police investigation, a man surnamed Chen (45 years old) and his Japanese friend (38 years old) were dining around 8 PM at a hot pot restaurant in New Taipei's Sanchong District when they got into a verbal altercation with customers at the neighboring table over smoking in the restaurant. After settling the bill, while waiting for a taxi on Fude North Road, the opposing five individuals actively approached them to reason, which led to the conflict. Both parties engaged in a fierce fight by the roadside, and following reports, police from the Sanchong precinct quickly arrived at the scene to control the situation.

During the altercation, a woman surnamed Chi (35 years old) was hit and started bleeding from her nose. When the police questioned her about the incident, she angrily told the police: "He defeated me! He started it by grabbing me and then threw a punch at me!" Both parties indicated that they would file injury complaints. The police took Chen and his friend, Chi, a man surnamed Ma, and three minors back to the station and are processing them for disorderly conduct and assault. The three minors were then reported to their families for pickup.
