A thrilling incident occurred in Kaohsiung City on the morning of the 5th, when an ambulance was stolen by a woman while it was attending to a patient in need of emergency care. The woman drove the ambulance at high speeds for over 10 kilometers. With the assistance of police tracking and locating systems, the vehicle was eventually stopped at Kaohsiung Port. The 41-year-old female suspect, whose last name is Cai, is suspected of being mentally unstable. The case has been forwarded for prosecution for theft and obstructing public duties. The fire bureau stated that it will strengthen personnel training to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

The Kaohsiung City Fire Department's Xinxing Division on the morning of the 5th, in an emergency to transport a dialysis patient to the Veterans General Hospital for medical treatment, had the ambulance crew not able to turn off the engine when they got out due to the urgent situation. A woman took the opportunity to drive away with the ambulance, speeding over 10 kilometers along the way. Since the ambulance was equipped with a tracking system, the police quickly located the woman's whereabouts through this system and successfully apprehended her at Kaohsiung Port, and she has been sent for legal proceedings according to the law.

At the time of the incident, the ambulance was parked at the entrance of the Veterans General Hospital's emergency room, and two paramedics hurriedly pushed the patient out of the vehicle to seek medical care. Soon after, when the surroundings were deserted, a woman quickly climbed into the driver's seat and drove off with the ambulance. Subsequently, the woman drove while honking the horn, and after the police received the report, they immediately began an interception and reviewed surveillance footage to track her movements, ultimately successfully stopping the woman near Dock No. 10 at Kaohsiung Port.

Police stated that the suspect's mental condition appeared to be unstable, and she has yet to explain why she drove the ambulance. This incident was shocking, occurring just after 11 in the morning. Before the ambulance was stolen, the female suspect seemingly first climbed into a private ambulance to check it out before turning to steal the fire rescue ambulance. The Fire Bureau indicated that response measures have been initiated in light of this incident to strengthen personnel training to ensure similar incidents do not occur again. As for the ambulance and its equipment, the total value is about 5 million; fortunately, the vehicle was not damaged. Currently, this case is being investigated and handled according to the relevant laws regarding theft and obstruction of public duties.
