A South Korean student from Fu Jen Catholic University was injured in a random stabbing incident in Ximen District, suffering a back injury. The student expressed shock on social media, stating that Taiwan should be a safe country, but feels uneasy after this incident. The assailant has been arrested by the police, who confirmed that the attack was prompted by the suspect's behavior while intoxicated. The student hopes that the incident will not affect local businesses and is concerned about the safety of others. The university will provide necessary medical and legal assistance.

A Korean student surnamed Shen from Fu Jen Catholic University expressed on social media that he was a victim of a random stabbing incident in Ximending, with stab wounds to his side, bleeding profusely. Although his injuries are not life-threatening and the police have arrested the suspect, this horrifying experience has left him unsettled. "I still can't believe that in Ximending, a place where almost all Koreans visiting Taiwan would go, such a random stabbing incident happened. I always thought Taiwan was a safe country, but after this incident, I began to rethink that."

Korean student stabbed in Ximending

Shen mentioned on social media that today he went to Ximending for a party to celebrate a friend's birthday. After having beef noodle soup, he was preparing to take the bus back to his dormitory when he passed by the McDonald's in Ximending, "suddenly, I was stabbed by a stranger with a knife. There was absolutely no conflict between us; it was the first time I saw him. He suddenly stabbed my back with a curved knife from behind." Shen recalled that at that moment he immediately questioned the person about his actions, but the person just fled in a vehicle. He quickly called the police and was sent to the hospital. This incident left him very disappointed with Taiwan's public safety, but he also expressed gratitude for the police's help, stating that they continuously checked on his wounds and mental well-being.

According to the police's initial understanding, the incident occurred around 6 a.m. today when Shen, the international student, brushed past a 39-year-old man surnamed Zhou. Due to Zhou's suspicion that Shen was staring at him while drunk, he returned to his vehicle in a fit of anger, retrieved a knife, and attacked Shen, causing injuries to his back. The police quickly identified the direction in which Zhou fled and intercepted his vehicle on Lin Sen North Road and Ming Quan East Road, seizing the weapon used in the crime. Zhou's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.95, and he was charged with attempted murder and public endangerment.

After receiving the report, the school stated that the campus safety center and the international student center had not received any notifications. They speculated that the student might be from the Mandarin language center and expressed their commitment to providing medical and legal support while urging the student to rest assured and recover.
