According to reports, the nine-day, eight-night pilgrimage activities of Dajia Mazu in Taichung had just begun that day. When the palanquin passed through the intersection of Guangming Road and Shuntian Road, thirty-five-year-old Huang, a member of the Maitreya group, attempted to make way for the palanquin but encountered a group of people dressed in white, leading to a pushing conflict. During this process, Huang was struck by the helmet of the man in white but fortunately did not sustain injuries.
The Dajia Police Department stated that they received a report at eleven o'clock that night and quickly activated a rapid response system, dispatching patrol and investigation teams to the scene, but found no fighting or other illegal activities. According to preliminary investigations, Huang indicated that due to the large crowd, the Maitreya group pushed against the other side to allow the Mazu palanquin to pass smoothly, and he was ultimately attacked by the man in white with a helmet. Huang expressed that he did not wish to pursue legal responsibility or file a complaint, believing this was purely a conflict arising from drunken behavior.
The police are currently actively pursuing the man in white and will handle the incident according to the Social Order Maintenance Act.
