As the Mazu procession passed through the intersection of Guangming Road and Shuntian Road in the Dajia District on the night of the 4th, a man dressed in white rushed into the formation and attacked a member of the Mile Group with a safety helmet.
It is understood that this Mazu pilgrimage event had just begun, and when the palanquin passed through the aforementioned intersection, a thirty-five-year-old member of the Mile Group, Huang, attempted to clear the way for the palanquin but ended up in a scuffle with the group dressed in white. As a result, Huang was attacked by the man in white with a safety helmet, fortunately without sustaining serious injuries. The police subsequently launched an investigation.
The Dajia Police Station stated that at 11 PM on the night of the 4th, when the Mazu palanquin passed the intersection of Guangming Road and Shuntian Road, the conflict arose because members of the Mile Group were trying to clear the way for the deity's palanquin, leading to a push and shove with the group in white. After receiving the report, the police quickly activated a rapid response mechanism, dispatching patrol and investigation teams to the scene, but found no fighting or other illegal activities.
Initial investigations showed that Huang claimed that due to the crowded conditions, the pushing incident escalated into a conflict, and he was attacked by the man in white with a safety helmet. Huang did not wish to pursue legal action and did not file a complaint, emphasizing that this was merely a conflict triggered by excessive drinking. The police are actively investigating the man in white involved in the incident and will impose penalties according to the Social Order Maintenance Act.
