A shocking random stabbing incident occurred in Ximending! This morning, a South Korean male student, after attending a friend's birthday party in Ximending, was preparing to return to his dormitory when, after merely "glancing" at the suspect, the attacker suddenly appeared and stabbed him in the back with a machete, causing the foreign student to bleed profusely and urgently needing medical treatment. Even more outrageous is that the suspect fled the scene while driving under the influence, prompting the police to launch a manhunt, which ultimately led to his arrest in the Zhongshan District of Taipei City, and he was transferred for investigation on charges of "attempted murder."
Three South Korean male students were walking in the Ximending business district when they encountered a man wearing a gray-green shirt, who was quite intoxicated and suddenly began to curse loudly. One of the students, with the surname Shen, glanced at him without responding, which provoked the man to run back to his car, retrieve a machete, and stab the victim directly. Blood splattered from his back on the spot, and the situation was critical; after treatment, multiple stitches were necessary, leaving people in shock.
After receiving the report, the police chased the suspect by car and successfully arrested him on LinSen North Road in the Zhongshan District, with a breathalyzer test showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.95.

The South Korean male student expressed his sadness after the incident, pointing out that such an event occurring in a place frequented by many people made him reconsider the safety of studying in Taiwan.

The head of the Ximending police station, WanHua Division, stated that the police have transferred the suspect to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office for handling the charges of attempted murder and endangering public safety while driving under the influence. The university attended by the South Korean male student, Fu Jen Catholic University, indicated that after the incident, the school's priests and teachers had reached out to offer support, and they will provide assistance if further needs arise.
As the situation develops, netizens are also expressing their support, hoping that the authorities will take the public safety issue seriously so that foreigners can feel safe coming to Taiwan.
