To ensure environmental safety during the Qingming Festival, Mayor Huang Wei-che urges citizens to extinguish fires after visiting graves and to use the free recycled water provided by the city's water resource recycling centers to prevent fire hazards. The Water Resources Bureau pointed out that Tainan City processes over 170,000 tons of sewage daily and offers seven recycling centers that operate year-round without interruption, providing 18,000 tons of non-contact recycled water for cleaning purposes free of charge. Citizens can utilize these water resources to support water-saving initiatives and collectively maintain the environment.
To ensure environmental safety during the Qingming Festival and to promote the sustainable use of water resources, the mayor especially urges citizens to extinguish fire sources after tomb sweeping and ancestral worship. Citizens can use the recycled water provided for free by the city's water recycling centers for extinguishing fires, avoiding unnecessary fire risks, and jointly maintaining our living environment and precious water resources.
The Water Resources Bureau stated that Tainan City's water recycling centers handle more than 170,000 tons of domestic wastewater daily, serving over 216,000 households and undertaking the important tasks of wastewater treatment and enhancing environmental quality.
During the Qingming holiday period, the city's seven water recycling centers (Anping, Guantian, Rende, Annan, Liuying, Huweiliao, and Yongkang) will be open year-round without a day off. In addition to providing uninterrupted wastewater treatment 24 hours a day, they have further strengthened measures for the reuse of recycled water, offering 18,000 tons of recycled water (non-potable secondary water) free of charge for non-human contact use each day. This recycled water can be used for cleaning and other non-direct-contact purposes, allowing the public to utilize it for watering after tomb sweeping, achieving the goals of water conservation and resource recycling.
The Water Resources Bureau pointed out that recycled water, after purification treatment at the water recycling centers, can be used for flushing toilets, landscaping, beautifying green spaces, watering to suppress dust, washing cars, and street cleaning—none of which involves direct contact with the human body.
Citizens are welcome to actively use recycled water at various water recycling centers during the Qingming holiday, and to make more use of this recycled water during tomb sweeping and ancestral worship activities, responding to water-saving initiatives, allowing the Qingming holiday to honor ancestors while also jointly maintaining our living environment and contributing to resource sustainability and environmental protection.
