New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-ih pointed out that in the face of the United States imposing a 32% tariff on Taiwan, the Executive Yuan has launched an 88 billion aid plan. However, he believes this is only a drop in the bucket and calls on the central government to actively negotiate with the U.S. for more favorable conditions. Moreover, Hou emphasized the importance of stabilizing the operating environment for local enterprises, particularly ensuring a stable energy supply, and announced the establishment of an industry development advisory committee to provide further assistance to affected businesses.

The Mayor of New Taipei City, Hou You-ih, stated that the U.S. President announced a 32% tariff on Taiwan, and the Executive Yuan quickly launched an assistance plan of 88 billion. However, Hou You-ih believes that the 8.8 billion NT dollars in aid is merely a drop in the bucket, and the central government should strengthen negotiations with the U.S. side to seek more favorable conditions.

Li Li-chen, Director of the New Taipei City News Bureau, conveyed Hou You-ih's views, emphasizing that compared to other countries that have made ample preparations, our country should actively engage in discussions with the U.S. to achieve better terms. He pointed out that the 8.8 billion NT dollar assistance plan is still insufficient for the long-term development of the industry. The focus should be on how to stabilize the development and operating environment of local enterprises, especially ensuring a stable energy supply.

Li Li-chen mentioned that the Executive Yuan stated at a press conference that the industries most affected by the new tariff policy include information and communication equipment and electronic components, with New Taipei City being a major concentration of related industries. Mayor Hou You-ih has already begun actively contacting relevant enterprises to discuss the assistance that the local government can provide and plans to convene an industry development advisory committee for further exploration.
