U.S. President Trump announced a 32% tariff on Taiwan. On the 4th, Premier Su Tseng-chang held a press conference to introduce an NT$88 billion assistance plan, which includes 20 measures across 9 key areas. New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-ih pointed out that other countries have already prepared in advance and called on the central government to actively negotiate with the U.S. to secure more favorable conditions. Hou You-ih emphasized that the NT$88 billion will have limited impact on the long-term development of industries and that focus should be on improving the business environment and stabilizing energy supply, while also paying attention to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and traditional industries.

The President of the United States announced a reciprocal tariff of up to 32% on Taiwan, and the Executive Yuan's head personally held a press conference to announce that the government will launch an assistance plan covering 9 areas and 20 measures, totaling 88 billion NT dollars. The mayor of New Taipei City believes that compared to other countries that have already grasped and prepared in advance, the central government should actively negotiate with the US for more favorable conditions.

Regarding the industries most affected by the new US tariff policy mentioned in the Executive Yuan's press conference, the director of the New Taipei City Government's News Bureau pointed out that among them, the information and communication equipment and electronic components manufacturers represent a significant proportion in New Taipei City. The mayor has made calls to express concern for relevant enterprises and exchanged opinions on further assistance that local government can provide; a consultation committee on industrial development will also be urgently convened.

Concerning the 88 billion NT dollar assistance plan proposed by the Executive Yuan, the mayor emphasized that in terms of the long-term development of industries, this is just a drop in the bucket, and the focus should be on stabilizing the foundation of local enterprises and improving the overall operating environment, especially stable energy supply. The assistance policies from the Executive Yuan include loan subsidies, tax reductions, and will also help strengthen export capabilities, guide transformation, and explore diverse markets to enhance the international competitiveness of industries; particularly for small and medium enterprises and traditional industries, the government will provide more attention and corresponding measures.
