In 2019, a woman with the surname Wang from Kaohsiung married a South Korean man, but six months later met a Taiwanese man with the surname Zeng and remarried. When the South Korean man learned of this, he sued Wang for bigamy and sought damages. The court ruled that Wang committed the crime of bigamy, sentencing her to two months in prison and requiring her to compensate the South Korean man 160,000 yuan, reasoning that she continued to interact with the South Korean man after the marriage and failed to prove that her marriage was involuntary.

In 2019, a woman with the surname Wang from Kaohsiung married a man with the surname Han from China, but only six months after the marriage, she met a Taiwanese man with the surname Zeng and married him the following year. When Han learned that Wang had returned to Taiwan, he filed a lawsuit for bigamy and sought compensation. After court proceedings, Wang was found guilty of bigamy, sentenced to two months in prison, and ordered to compensate Han with 160,000 NT dollars.

According to the ruling, Wang met Han in 2016, and after dating for several years, they registered their marriage in April 2019 in Qingdao, China. However, the day after their wedding, she returned to Taiwan. Six months after the marriage, Wang started dating Taiwanese man Zeng and married him in October the following year, later becoming pregnant and giving birth to two daughters. When Han learned that Wang had married and had children with another person, he angrily filed a lawsuit for compensation. He pointed out that before their marriage, Wang had requested money from him for various reasons, and at the time of marriage, she received a bride price of 260,000 RMB, along with a gold ring and a diamond ring, and planned to reunite in Taiwan after their marriage, only to find out about Zeng's existence during the application process for a Taiwan entry permit.

However, Wang argued that she met Han in Taipei, and Han had used a pseudonym, claiming to be a manager assigned to Taipei by a mainland company. It wasn't until the registration that she discovered Han's lies and stated that she had been threatened and forced to marry. Nevertheless, the judge found that Wang had applied twice for Han to come to Taiwan for reunification after their marriage and had not provided evidence that the marriage was non-consensual, making it difficult to validate her claims.

The judge pointed out that marriage is a permanent union between spouses, and the parties should trust each other and maintain complete rights and obligations. Therefore, Wang was found guilty of bigamy, sentenced to two months of imprisonment, and ordered to jointly compensate Zeng for infringing upon Han's spousal rights with a total of 160,000 NT dollars.
