The Kaohsiung City team performed exceptionally well in the 2025 East Coast Alliance U18 Baseball Championship, ultimately winning the championship. They defeated the New Taipei City team in the semifinals and then faced Gu Bao High School in the championship game, where they made a comeback to win 2-1 after a fierce battle. Despite a poor performance from starting pitcher Fu Zhenghong, Chen Yuhan came in and successfully stopped the bleeding, while Hong Guanyu did not allow any runs in the final two innings, helping the team secure the championship. Coach Zhang Rongxun praised Hong Guanyu's progress and plans to continue strengthening team training in preparation for upcoming competitions.

The Kaohsiung City team won the 2025 East Coast Alliance Championship. On the final day of the event, the Kaohsiung team eliminated their opponents in succession, first defeating the New Taipei City team in the semifinals, and then engaging in a fierce championship match against Gu Bao High School. Despite trailing throughout the game, the team equalized in the bottom of the fifth inning and secured a crucial winning run in the sixth inning, ultimately achieving a come-from-behind victory with a score of 2:1, successfully claiming the championship and bringing home the golden cup.

In this match, Kaohsiung City’s starting pitcher Fu Zhenhong faced difficulties right from the start, allowing a run from Liu Chengyou after loading the bases. To immediately stem the damage, the coach arranged for left-hander Chen Yuhan to pitch in the first inning, successfully suppressing Gu Bao High School’s offensive threat and pitching until the end of the fifth inning.

Kaohsiung City’s head coach Zhang Rongxun revealed that the original starting pitcher Zheng Pinshen was absent due to gastroenteritis, and Fu Zhenhong was unable to fulfill the expected innings, so he swiftly arranged for Chen Yuhan to take over. Their collaboration produced good results.

After several attempts, the Kaohsiung City team finally broke the deadlock in the fifth inning when Hu Cheng’en's hit allowed Chen Weifan to return home, equalizing the score to 1:1. Then, in the sixth inning, Wang Sheng’en and Xu Shucheng's consecutive hits brought the decisive run for the team.

After Chen Yuhan left the game, the Kaohsiung City team sent sophomore left-hander Hong Guanyu to pitch the final two innings. With a perfect performance, he extinguished Gu Bao High School’s counterattack, successfully preserving the victory and earning the win. Hong Guanyu expressed that he felt nervous when facing strong teams, but the encouragement from the catcher and the hard work of his teammates made him take on the heavy responsibility.

Zhang Rongxun praised Hong Guanyu’s progress, pointing out that he changed his attitude and training methods after joining the team. Hong Guanyu hopes to become a key pitcher for the wooden bat team in the future and to improve his pitching speed through hard work.

Hong Guanyu hails from Penghu and hesitated whether to continue his baseball journey upon graduating from junior high but ultimately chose to pursue further development. He performed well during his time in Taiwan and proactively requested to switch to pitching, continuously practicing various pitching techniques.

The Kaohsiung City team is currently preparing to participate in the Yushan Cup, with the team primarily composed of Sanmin High School, in conjunction with Gaoyuan Industrial School and Pumen Junior High School, showing strong strength. Zhang Rongxun stated that this undefeated journey in the East Coast Alliance greatly helps boost morale. Moving forward, players will return to their mother teams to prepare for other competitions and strengthen team chemistry through friendly matches.
