This morning (5th), at around 10:55 AM, two male firefighters from the Fanlu Fire Brigade in Chiayi County were driving a fire truck after completing a rescue operation for a burning vehicle. While returning to the station, they lost control due to improper operation while turning at a location 0.5 kilometers along the Jia 130 Line in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, leading to the overturning of the fire truck. The two firefighters were able to escape unscathed and were not injured, and the fire truck was successfully lifted from the scene in the afternoon.

Police investigations indicate that around 10:05 AM, firefighter Xu (50 years old) was driving the fire truck with a 35-year-old male team member surnamed He, returning from a mission and traveling along the Ali Mountain Highway in a mountainous area. This section of the road has a steep gradient and is narrow, and it is suspected that the accident occurred while meeting another vehicle, causing the truck to tumble off into a bumpy area by the roadside. Fortunately, both firefighters were uninjured and not trapped.

Considering that the fire truck weighs approximately 7 tons, plus equipment and around 2 tons of water, making the total weight around 10 tons, initial speculations suggest that skidding may have occurred during the encounter with the other vehicle, leading to the truck overturning. After subsequent handling, the fire truck was successfully lifted from the scene in the afternoon without any injuries reported. Following police investigations, it was found that Xu’s blood alcohol content was 0, and the specific cause of the accident still needs to be clarified through further investigation.

The Zhongpu Police Department urges that due to the narrow and winding roads in the Zhongpu mountainous areas, drivers must slow down and drive carefully when navigating curves to avoid traffic accidents.
