The event attracted 15,487 spectators, with several distinguished guests in attendance, including Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai. After throwing the first pitch, Mayor Chen transformed into a fan to watch the game, emphasizing the importance of improving the sporting environment. This year, Chengching Lake Baseball Stadium can accommodate nearly 20,000 fans and offers a ticket discount of 50 NTD for students. During the opening game, there will be free shuttle bus services available, and it is recommended that spectators take public transportation to the venue.

To enhance the facilities at Chengcing Lake Baseball Park, the Kaohsiung City Government jointly planned a budget of NT$376 million and has been carrying out renovations in two stages since the 112th year, with completion expected before the end of this year's season. This renovation fully updated over 18,500 stadium seats, 54 restrooms, bullpens, player lounges, VIP rooms, and entrances on the first and second floors, as well as corridor lighting on each floor, fire protection systems, the underground parking lot surface, cheerleader performance stages, and media interview rooms, hoping to provide players and fans with a quality competitive and viewing environment.

On the fifth, the Kaohsiung City Government Sports Development Bureau indicated that the first game at Chengcing Lake Baseball Park attracted up to 15,487 spectators, drawing many seasoned fans and first-time attendees. Guests present included the mayor, executives from the Taiwan Steel Group, and representatives from Rakuten Monkeys. The mayor threw the first pitch, and other guests took turns participating in the game, adding luster to the Eagles' history.

After throwing the first pitch, the mayor transformed into a fan and watched the game from within the park. He stated that to provide players and fans with a safe and quality viewing environment, the Kaohsiung City Government is actively seeking funding support from the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration, allocating NT$375.95 million for the improvement project at Chengcing Lake Baseball Park, divided into two stages. The first phase improved the indoor spaces on the first and second floors, the cheerleader stage, seating in the lower infield, as well as mechanical, fire protection, and air conditioning systems, and improvements to surrounding areas. The second phase will repair the third and fourth floor spaces, the underground parking lot surface, and update seating in the upper infield and outfield stands.

Through this renovation, it is hoped to bring a brand new experience for players and fans, allowing the public to enjoy the charm of baseball. Last year's opening home game attracted 16,232 fans, and this year the Eagles welcomed their second season in the first team. After two years of renovations, Chengcing Lake Baseball Park has reopened its outfield area, which can accommodate nearly 20,000 fans. At the end of the game, Zhang Zhaoyuan hit a walk-off single, securing a 4-3 victory for the Taiwan Steel Eagles.

To delve deeper into local culture in Kaohsiung, the Taiwan Steel Eagles' initiative launched last year called the "Intersection Project" received support and has upgraded to version 2.0 this year, hoping to cheer on the citizens of Kaohsiung and bring energy. Through various promotional activities, it further solidifies connections with fans in the Kaohsiung-Pingtung area, allowing fans to feel the enthusiasm of the Eagles team in their daily lives. A pre-heating event in Kaohsiung on March 29 attracted many fans and invited everyone to purchase tickets to support the local team.

As the home city of the Taiwan Steel Eagles, the Kaohsiung City Government has introduced a NT$50 discount scheme for students. As the new season approaches, the Eagles' home ground began accepting reservations on March 20. This season will host a total of 48 home games, providing 9,544 discounted spots for students. Students from Kaohsiung holding a digital student ID can make online reservations, and successful reservations will allow them to enter the game for NT$50, experiencing the passion and excitement of professional sports competitions!
