When sharing the details of the incident, he mentioned that after celebrating a friend's birthday, he was suddenly attacked with a knife by a stranger while waiting for a bus back to his dormitory. Student Shen thanked the police for their assistance and expressed concern that others might face similar dangers. After investigation, the police found that the suspect had behaved improperly due to intoxication and has been dealt with according to the law.
A South Korean student with the surname Shen from Fu Jen Catholic University shared his horrifying experience of encountering a random stabbing incident in Ximen District on the social platform "Threads." He was seriously injured in the incident; although he is currently fine, and the police have arrested the suspect, this experience has left him feeling unsettled. "I still can't believe that such a random stabbing incident occurred in 'Ximen,' a place where almost all Koreans visiting Taiwan go. I always thought Taiwan was a safe country, but after this incident, I started to rethink this."
Shen mentioned that he was attending a party to celebrate a friend's birthday. After having beef noodles, he was preparing to return to his school dormitory when he suddenly was stabbed by a stranger with a knife while passing by a McDonald's in Ximen. "We had no conflict at all; it was the first time I saw that person, and he suddenly stabbed at me from behind with a curved knife." Shen recalled that he immediately asked the person what he was doing, but the individual quickly fled in a car, and he subsequently called the police and was taken to the hospital.
Shen stated that due to the depth of his wound, he continued to bleed for two hours until the wound was stitched up before returning to the dormitory to rest. This incident left him disappointed in Taiwan's public safety, but he also expressed gratitude for the police's concern and assistance. Although he has not received any follow-up information from the police, he believes they are still investigating.
According to preliminary police investigations, at the time of the incident, the student with the surname Shen brushed past a 39-year-old man with the surname Zhou. Zhou, under the influence of alcohol, mistakenly thought Shen was staring at him, so he took out a knife and slashed at Shen's back, resulting in his injury. The police later seized the knife used in the attack and charged Zhou with attempted murder and public endangerment.
Fu Jen Catholic University stated that the campus security center and the international student center have not received any reports and speculated that the student is likely from the Chinese Language Center; the school will provide full medical and legal assistance and hopes the student can rest assured during his recovery.
