A 19-year-old military officer surnamed Xu, suspecting that his girlfriend surnamed Liu was cheating on him, strangled her to death on May 18 of last year and violated her corpse twice. He was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment and a lifelong deprivation of civil rights by the New Taipei District Court. Xu and his girlfriend were both military personnel and had known each other since high school. A violent conflict arose due to their breakup, ultimately leading to the tragic incident. After the trial, the judge determined that Xu's behavior was extremely atrocious and imposed a severe penalty on him.

A 19-year-old military police officer from New Taipei City, surnamed Hsu, suspected that his girlfriend, surnamed Liu, who was also a military police officer, was unfaithful. On May 18 of last year, he strangled her to death with his bare hands and violated her corpse twice. The New Taipei District Court sentenced Hsu to life imprisonment for murder and other charges, and stripped him of his civic rights for life. During questioning, Hsu stated that because he was not satisfied with his demands for sexual activity during the first violation, he decided to do it again. He even attempted to obstruct Liu's family while they were performing CPR on her, which was shocking behavior.

Investigations by prosecutors and police revealed that Hsu and Liu had been classmates since high school, and after graduating, they both joined the military and were assigned to the same unit, eventually developing a romantic relationship. However, Liu felt that Hsu had an excessive desire for control, and the two often quarreled about it. Ultimately, on May 16 of last year, Liu proposed breaking up. Unwilling to accept the breakup, Hsu became suspicious of Liu's fidelity and entered her residence on the night of May 17 in an attempt to salvage their relationship. However, after arguing until 9 a.m. the next day, when Hsu saw that Liu was determined to break up, he killed her in a fit of rage.

After Liu suffocated to death, Hsu also punched her in the face to vent his anger and violated her corpse. He even used Liu's phone to chat with other military colleagues, believing that the first time was too quick and did not meet his needs, so he decided to do it again. Liu's family, not seeing her appear at the agreed time, began to inquire about her whereabouts, and Hsu replied, "She's dead." When the family came to knock on the door but received no response, they eventually pried open the door with tools. Hsu then opened the door and told them, "Call the police! She's dead!" When they rushed into the room, they saw Liu with her lower body exposed, her face covered by a pillow, and her lips purple, confirming that their sister had been murdered. Hsu attempted to commit suicide with a knife at the scene.

Afterward, Liu's family refused to settle and demanded the death penalty for Hsu. The national judges believed that Hsu was unable to accept the breakup, and his emotional outburst led to murder, causing severe trauma to the victim's family. Therefore, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, and his civic rights were stripped for life. Furthermore, the judges deemed Hsu's beating and two acts of violation to be regarded as the same crime, sentencing him to 4 years in prison for the crime of damaging and insulting a corpse, and 1 year in prison for the crime of falsifying a quasi-private document, ultimately merging it into the life sentence. The entire case is still subject to appeal.
