This morning (5th), an accident occurred in Tokyo, Japan, where a sightseeing bus rear-ended another bus, resulting in 47 injuries, all of whom are foreign tourists. Fortunately, none are in life-threatening condition.
The incident took place on the southbound section of the Chuo Expressway in Hachioji City, Tokyo, specifically near the entrance of the Kobutsu Tunnel. At the time, two buses were en route from Tokyo to Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture, carrying about 50 passengers. Police confirmed that all injured individuals are conscious and are currently undergoing medical examinations.
The travel platform KKday confirmed that among the passengers were some from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. The company stated that more than ten people have already been sent for medical checks and will provide full compensation for all KKday travelers to protect their rights.
KKday further explained that although the bus supplier complies with local regulations, they will assist travelers in returning to their home countries and provide necessary insurance assistance. The accident report will also be provided by the bus supplier.
According to media reports, one Taiwanese traveler stated that they initially planned to visit Mount Fuji but encountered an accident during the bus ride, resulting in around 30 injuries when the window in the back row was shattered.
Currently, the situation of all injured individuals has been brought under control, and none are in danger.
