The accident happened on the southbound section of the Chuo Expressway in Hachioji City, Tokyo, not far from the Kobutsu Tunnel entrance. In response to this incident, the travel platform KKday confirmed that there were travelers on board from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, with more than ten people sustaining minor injuries and being sent for medical examinations. KKday stated that they will provide full policy coverage for the affected travelers to protect their rights.
The incident occurred around 10 AM, and according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Highway Traffic Police, the two buses were scheduled to travel from Tokyo to Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture, with approximately 50 passengers on board. The event resulted in 47 injuries, and all the injured individuals are conscious and not in serious danger.
According to reports, one Taiwanese traveler stated, "We were preparing to go to Mount Fuji when we suddenly heard a loud crash, the rear window of the bus was shattered, and about 30 people were injured as a result."
