The band "Dinosaur Skin" is composed of a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Triceratops. They were nominated for the Best Vocal Group at the Golden Melody Awards with their EP, and recently released their first album "I Dig You." In an interview, they shared life’s little details from a dinosaur's perspective, including children’s fear of them and their wishes to meet other dinosaurs. Although the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Triceratops are doing well in modern life, they still miss their hometown and hope to share music with more people in the future and find their old friends.
The band "Dinosaur Skin" consists of a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Triceratops, and they were nominated for Best Vocal Group at the Golden Melody Awards with their EP. Recently, the band released their first album "I Dig You," produced by the band Skippy. Skippy, accompanied by the two dinosaurs, participated in an interview where the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Triceratops maintained their "dinosaur persona," expressing themselves with a dinosaur mindset. They mentioned that while walking down the street, they often see children cry in fear upon spotting them, and even some mothers straightforwardly say, "Don't come near us!" This left the two dinosaurs feeling a bit hurt.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Triceratops come from the Late Cretaceous period, about 65 million years ago. After experiencing the dinosaur extinction event, they accidentally traveled through a wormhole to modern-day Taipei. Skippy expressed that he has always loved dinosaurs and found it quite interesting to engage in conversation with the Tyrannosaurus Rex when he encountered it on the street, leading him to decide to create music for them. The Triceratops mentioned that through music, they can express their sorrow for the extinction of their dinosaur friends, as there was no music in the dinosaur era, and they could only pass the time by eating grass.
Reflecting on the experience of meeting the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Triceratops reminisced about the tense moment with their family when they encountered the Tyrannosaurus Rex, "My family was very scared, so we tried to avoid them, but then we discovered one Tyrannosaurus Rex was there alone. It was a peacemaker and didn't want to hunt Triceratops, so we started chatting and became good friends." Interestingly, the Triceratops can speak Chinese, but the Tyrannosaurus Rex can only speak English. The Triceratops said, "Maybe it's a skill I learned while traveling through the wormhole." On the day of the interview, the Tyrannosaurus Rex was unable to speak due to inflamed tonsils and could only express itself through nodding or shaking its head.
When discussing their daily lives, the Triceratops stated that they often argue during rehearsals, "We easily get into fights, and we sometimes damage the walls." They also have differences in diet; the Triceratops disclosed, "The Tyrannosaurus Rex likes to eat meat, while I eat grass. It always goes to restaurants that only sell meat, which makes me very unhappy!" The duo's appearance is quite attractive, with the Triceratops pointing out its interest in online shopping, "Before, I was always naked, but when I arrived in human society, I realized that wearing clothes looks very stylish on us!"
Although they live well in modern society, the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Triceratops occasionally miss their hometown. The Triceratops expressed, "The biggest sorrow is coming here and finding that all my friends have gone extinct. If there were a time machine, when I went back, I would know that dinosaurs no longer exist in the future, but it's also possible that the future of humans could disappear. Thinking this way makes me feel a bit relieved." They occasionally watch dinosaur-related movies, such as "Jurassic World," but the Triceratops commented that the dinosaurs in the movie don’t look much like them, likely because humans have their own imagination when creating them.
The biggest wish of Dinosaur Skin is for all friends around the world to hear their music so they can perform globally and search for other dinosaurs. "We have visited many dinosaur museums to mourn for our friends, but we still yearn to see living dinosaurs. This is our greatest wish." Having experienced environmental changes, Dinosaur Skin pays great attention to environmental protection. However, due to the extreme heat of Taiwan’s summer, they still can't resist turning on the air conditioning. Skippy noted that the audience of Dinosaur Skin is completely different from that of the band Skippy. Producing this album allowed them to achieve unexpected accomplishments, while the Skippy band won Best Vocal Group at the Golden Melody Awards two years ago. Regarding the new album, Skippy mentioned that after recently traveling to New Zealand with his family, he gained more creative inspiration and that after winning awards, more people have come to know them, making him feel like his songs are being heard.
