Lai Peixia takes good care of herself and still looks young. She recently announced that she will hold her first solo concert at the end of the year, receiving full support from her husband, Xie Zhihong. Lai Peixia shared that Xie Zhihong always encourages her to pursue her dreams and candidly stated that the secret to their marital happiness is “kissing each other goodnight every evening.” Lai Peixia has great admiration for Xie Zhihong, calling him her “life coach,” and believes he is very generous and worth learning from. Despite having two previous marriages, she and Xie Zhihong hardly argue, and their relationship is very harmonious. She emphasizes that the secret to keeping a youthful mindset is to be happy and to follow simple life principles. Lai Peixia also shared her daily exercise habits, including jumping on a trampoline and lifting dumbbells to maintain the strength in her fingers for playing the piano easily. She looks forward to the concert at the end of the year and hopes to perform and sing on her own, continuing to showcase her love for music.
Lai Peixia's well-maintained appearance makes her look as youthful as ever, seemingly unable to tell that she has entered her sixties. During her candidacy journey, she recently announced that she would once again embark on an important career. Since releasing her first album in 1984, she will hold her first personal concert at the end of this year. This news has received enthusiastic support from her family, especially from her husband, Xie Zhihong, who has praised it. She laughed and mentioned, "As long as my husband sees me on stage, he is very happy; he always thinks I belong on the stage, and the thing he worries about most is that I won't sing anymore." Regardless, when it comes to matters of true passion, both of them are the first to cheer for each other.
Lai Peixia and Xie Zhihong have been married for 25 years, and every time she mentions him, she generously shares her husband's virtues: "When I used to be in a bad mood and talked to him, he would always advise me not to bother with those kinds of people. I actually got angrier, feeling like he didn't understand at all, but later he learned that I didn't need advice; I just needed him to quietly listen to me." Throughout their decades-long marriage, she candidly revealed the secret to maintaining their relationship is "a kiss goodnight every evening." Lai Peixia has an independent personality and exudes a strong woman’s aura, but the unwavering affection from her husband still piques curiosity; how exactly did Xie Zhihong win her heart? With an admiring expression, she said, "He never interferes with me and always lets me do what I want. He understands that I am a very disciplined person, thus he encourages me to pursue my passions and challenge different fields."
In fact, Lai Peixia has had two marriages; after ending her short eight-year marriage with her first husband, she remarried Xie Zhihong, the chairman of Fengkang Microfluidic Chip Company. The two have hardly argued since their marriage, and Xie Zhihong has become Lai Peixia's lifelong crush. She sweetly stated, "He is my most important life coach. My husband is very generous to the people around him, and whether it’s work or interpersonal relationships, he is someone worth learning from."
At 62 years old, Lai Peixia made a stunning appearance at the "Folk Songs 50 Concert" in a fitted cheongsam paired with a chic short hairstyle, her dazzling performance captivating the audience of tens of thousands. She maintains herself well and revealed her anti-aging secret is to stay happy; although the body may age with time, the spirit can continually improve. "As long as you manage your heart well, reduce desires, and simplify needs, life becomes simpler, and you can live younger," she said.
She shared two fixed exercises she does at home, which include 12,000 jumps on a trampoline every day and holding dumbbells in both hands. She explained, "As people age, the most feared issue is weak fingers. I will hold dumbbells weighing about 75% of my body weight, with both hands facing downward for one minute. This helps strengthen my fingers and allows me to play the piano with more power." At the Folk Songs 50 Concert, she reignited her passion for singing and was invited to participate in the upcoming concert "The Songs We Listened to Together" in mid-June. Lai Peixia expressed her joy, saying, "I’m so happy that I can still maintain this childlike heart; my love for music and art has never changed." She cherishes every performance opportunity, especially looking forward to her personal concert at the end of the year. As someone who loves playing the piano, she might arrange a segment where she sings and plays: "I started learning the piano when I was young, so perhaps this time I can challenge myself to try it out."
