Surveillance footage showed that she exhibited looking actions on the platform and only suddenly climbed over the platform door when the train was approaching. After the accident was discovered, the stationmaster immediately went to the tracks to handle the situation, and emergency services quickly arrived to search. By the time Ms. Lai was rescued, there were no signs of life, and she was still declared dead after being sent to the hospital.

The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation subsequently issued an announcement confirming the incident was caused by the passenger climbing over the platform door to enter the tracks. On-site clearance operations have been completed, and the motive behind the passenger's intrusion onto the tracks will be further investigated by the police. The metro company reiterates its call for everyone to cherish life and avoid violations; any arbitrary manipulation of metro station and train equipment may be fined between NT$10,000 and NT$1,000,000 under the Mass Rapid Transit Act.
