However, ByteDance also stated that there are still differences between both parties on several key issues, and a final agreement has not yet been reached. The company emphasized that any agreement must go through the relevant review procedures.

When asked about the latest status of the TikTok deal, the Chinese Embassy in Washington reiterated that its stance on the matter has been expressed multiple times and opposed actions that violate market economic principles. It is reported that ByteDance has communicated to the White House that China will not approve the deal unless both sides can start negotiations on trade and tariff issues. This deal is now facing a significant obstacle after months of negotiations, namely the need for approval from the Chinese government.

Trump stated on social media that his administration continues to work on saving the TikTok deal and has made significant progress. He emphasized that the agreement still requires further effort to obtain the necessary approvals. He mentioned that if no agreement is reached, TikTok will face the risk of shutting down its operations. Trump also indicated a desire to continue genuine cooperation with China but understood they might be dissatisfied with the idea of reciprocal tariffs.

After Trump increased tariffs this week, China announced retaliatory measures on Friday. He stated that he is willing to lower tariffs on China to facilitate the sale of the application by ByteDance. His administration is in contact with four groups regarding potential deals but has not disclosed their identities; reports indicate that the investors include Oracle and Blackstone Group.

Regarding TikTok's security issues, even if the deal is successful, many people still question its operational methods. Trump's executive order this time postpones the "ban TikTok or sell it" law passed by Congress last year, as the deadline for the law has arrived without ByteDance completing the divestiture. Lawmakers are concerned that the Chinese government could use TikTok to conduct espionage against Americans.

During his term, Trump attempted to ban TikTok on national security grounds but later changed his stance on the application. He stated that TikTok might help him win the support of young voters. Even if the deal is ultimately reached, concerns about TikTok's security remain, with media pointing out that the new company may potentially obtain algorithm licensing from ByteDance, which would raise legal disputes.

Members of the Legislative Yuan emphasized that there can be no further delays and that the law should be implemented immediately. Some legal experts indicated that extending the enforcement could violate the law. Surveys show that public attitudes towards TikTok are divided, with about a third of Americans supporting a ban on the application. Content creators also expressed fatigue over this series of changes and hope to receive clear results as soon as possible.
