U.S. President Trump suddenly dismissed National Security Agency Director Timothy Hoh, who also held the position of head of the Pentagon's Cyber Command. This personnel change was not officially explained, with far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer suggesting that she influenced this decision. Democratic lawmakers expressed strong dissatisfaction, pointing out that Trump removed an experienced military officer under far-right influence while not addressing officials involved in past scandals.
According to U.S. officials and congressional members, President Trump has suddenly dismissed National Security Agency (NSA) Director Timothy Hoh, who is also in charge of the Pentagon's Cyber Command. These unnamed officials stated that senior military leaders received notice of Hoh's dismissal on Thursday, while the White House and the Pentagon have not explained the reasons for this personnel change.
After this, far-right conspiracy theorists seemed to imply that she played a role in Hoh's dismissal. Reports indicate that several National Security Council staffers were fired or reassigned after Trump's meeting with the conspiracy theorist. The activist accused Hoh of having ties with critics of Trump and posted on social media: “As an official appointed by Biden, General Hoh should not serve in the Trump administration because he was personally selected by General Milley, who has been accused of treason by Trump.” However, she did not provide evidence of any connection between Hoh and Milley.
Milley served as Trump's chief military advisor from 2019 to 2021 and was noted for his fallout with Trump. In a book, he described Trump as a “complete fascist.” The conspiracy theorist also pointed out that all intelligence officials appointed by Obama and Biden seem to lack integrity and the moral awareness not to weaponize their positions, suggesting that they should be dismissed.
Democrats expressed strong dissatisfaction with Hoh's dismissal. The top Democratic member of the Senate Armed Services Committee issued a statement expressing shock and anger, asserting that Trump, under the influence of a far-right conspiracy theorist, fired an outstanding U.S. military leader. Another Democratic senator mentioned while criticizing this decision that the Trump administration had accidentally included a journalist in a sensitive military program chat group during the "Signal Gate" scandal. He stated that Trump refused to dismiss those officials who were negligent in that incident but followed the advice of a self-described "white nationalist" to remove an experienced national security expert from his position.
Since taking office in January, Trump has made extensive reshuffles within the U.S. military leadership.
